Iznajar

In this painting, the artist captures the timeless beauty of Iznájar, a charming pueblo blanco perched on a hill in the province of Córdoba, near the border with Málaga. The white houses climb along the rocky slopes, culminating in the 8th-century Moorish castle, the Castillo de Hisn-Ashar, which overlooks the surrounding landscape.

The scene is bathed in warm, golden light, reflecting on the still waters of the artificial lake below—Embalse de Iznájar, the largest reservoir in Andalusia. The surrounding hills, dotted with centuries-old olive groves, stretch toward the horizon, creating a harmonious contrast between nature and architecture.

Through delicate brushstrokes and a palette of earthy tones and soft blues, the artwork conveys the serenity and authenticity of a place where time seems to have stood still. “Iznájar” invites the viewer to get lost in the narrow alleys and flower-filled squares of the village, evoking the intimate, welcoming atmosphere typical of rural Andalusia.
